FORWARD Goals for sustainable development

Why?

The logistics sector bears an important responsibility in achieving climate targets and reducing CO2.

Both the government, but also your customers and young employees within your company, expect you to actively participate in working towards these sustainability goals.

By participating in the 'FORWARD Goals' you are demonstrating that you can legitimately present yourself as a sustainable logistics provider.

From us you will receive the FORWARD label 'FORWARD Goals for sustainable development' that you can use to impress your customers.

Who for?

All FORWARD Belgium members and associate members.

How can this be achieved?

Participating companies commit to achieving a minimum of 5 sustainable - unrelated - actions spread across the 17 different SDGs. The actions should preferably be local actions. If they are global actions, it should be demonstrated how these actions will be addressed locally.

These five acts of your own choosing must fulfil at least two of the five P’s:

  • People: SDG 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5
  • Planet: SDG 6, 12, 13, 14 and 15
  • Prosperity: SDG 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11
  • Peace: SDG 16
  • Partnership: SDG 17

How to submit projects?

Participating companies must clearly state which of their actions belong under which SDGs. We encourage creativity and are committed to accessibility. No endless written reports or manuals!

To show what your project is all about, create a fun video, use TikTok or an original application, give the evaluation committee members a tour, etc.

FORWARD label / logo

After completing the first five - unrelated - sustainable acts, you will receive the label/logo:

          FORWARD Goals for sustainable development

If you wish to engage in additional projects and complete a total of 10 - unrelated - sustainable acts you will receive the label/logo:

FORWARD Goals for sustainable development GOLD

The logo serves as a point of recognition for the industry and can be freely used by the participants.

Evaluation

The submitted projects will be shown to a FORWARD Belgium evaluation committee.

What's in it for me?

Names of businesses who achieve the FORWARD Goals label will be published in the FORWARD Belgium newsletter, gain publicity through social media channels, be mentioned with their logo in the FORWARD Belgium membership list and business directory on the webiste, etc.

In addition, the companies receive a trophy and certificate of participation (in hard copy and .pdf). The certificate has a validity of 2 years After these 2 years, a re-evaluation by the evaluation committee follows. If this is positive, a new 2-year certificate will be obtained.

Award

Each year, a FORWARD GOALS Award is also presented to the firm that submitted the most original project or file. During an annual FORWARD event, this firm will be put in 'the spotlight' and will receive the FORWARD GOALS Award.

Certificate / Declaration FORWARD Goals

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a set of universal sustainable development goals adopted by United Nations member states.

They were created to make the world a habitable, more equitable place by 2030. These goals reflect the three pillars of sustainable development: the economic, the social, and the environmental.

There are 17 SDGs with 169 sub-targets. These were divided into five groups, namely People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace, and Partnership.

Companies with the FORWARD GOALS for sustainable development logo demonstrate that they are allowed to brand themselves as sustainable logistics service providers.

Based on an audit conducted by FORWARD Belgium, they demonstrated that they are committed to achieving at least 5 sustainable actions spread across the 17 different SDGs.

The following companies have been awarded the FORWARD Goals label:
